I've Got To Let You Know
Here I am up on a wire
Wondering why we're never talking anymore.
If I should call you
Please don't ask for me to go.
I walked away a thousand times
But now I am at your door.
If I don't care, then I'm a liar,
Saying things at times I never know.
If I ignored you,
Don't regard it anymore.
I'm sorry that I hurt you
And I have got to let you know . . .
Chorus:
I love you.
Lord, I really love you.
I adore you.
Lord I do adore you.
Well you've answered all alone my foolish questions
And you always did what's right
When I was always doing wrong
And you waited while I went my own direction.
I love you
I never want to let you go.
I adore you.
And I want to let you know.
I just want to let you know.
I just got to let you, got to let you know.
Here I am up on a wire,
Wondering why we never talk anymore.
If I should call you
Please don't ask for me to go
Because I've walked away a 1000 times and now I am at your door . . .
Chorus
I just go to, just go to let you know .

Stan: I've Got To Let You Know was the sixth song I wrote in Fields of White. I wrote it by myself only because the week before (week one of FOW), Steph and I wrote five songs and I was, well, on a roll and Steph had gone out of town to Tulsa for a seminar.
The song is a universal archetype for the prodigal son. It's also for me a personal story of my walk with Christ. I wasn't a bang-all-of-a-sudden-you-have-Jesus type Christian (a la apostle Paul). My Damascus road actually lasted 15 years!. The song is about repentance and getting honest with the Lord through that time. |
